Blues Brunch featuring Diane Durrett & Soul Suga
Diane Durrett, renowned singer-songwriter and producer, showcases her vocal prowess once more on her upcoming 10th American Roots release, "Sweet Georgia Blues," available August 2nd. Known for her ability to belt gut-bucket blues and her velvet voice on feel-good singles like ‘Chasing Sunsets’ and ‘The Sweet Spot,’ each track on the album tells a story with authentic meaning. Recorded with her band Soul Suga’, featuring drummer Melissa Junebug, keyboardist Yoel Yehuda, and bassist Fuji Fujimoto, the album also includes special guest appearances by Georgia artists such as Tinsley Ellis, Eddie 9 Volt, and Joey ‘Papa J Sez’ Sommerville, as well as New Orleans Grammy-winning trombonist Craig Klein.
The album pays tribute to late bandmate Yonrico Scott with 'Child of the Blues' and closes with gospel overtones, reflecting Durrett's beginnings singing on Peachtree Street. As President of the Recording Academy Atlanta chapter and a longtime advocate for creator's rights, Durrett's influence spans both local and national music communities. Her previous releases, including 'Put A Lid On It,' have earned critical acclaim, reaching high rankings on charts. With a career spanning from energetic debuts to soulful collaborations with music legends, Durrett continues to inspire with her raw vocals and heartfelt songwriting.
